Susquehanna University Sports Spotlight Crew
September 2022 – Present
I love getting to work with the broadcast crew on campus, and sometimes that means volunteer work! The Sports Spotlight series is a weekly interview program where sports media students interview athletes and coaches at Susquehanna about their prior and upcoming competitions. This is a great way to get some practice running the behind-the-scenes of our athletics, and I love getting to support not only our athletes but my peers who use this program as a major stepping stone in their broadcasting career.
Chesapeake Conservancy Livestaking Volunteer
September 2024 – Present
I work with live stake coordinators to cut branches of trees and divide them into shorter stakes to be used to grow new trees in wildlife conservation areas that need them.
Selinsgrove Elementary School Pen Pal
September 2022 – Present
Each school year, the Susquehanna University Cross Country and Track and Field teams partner with two elementary school classrooms at Selinsgrove Elementary School to pair one athlete with each student as a pen pal. I love the opportunity to connect with young children and exchange fun stories about classes or colored pictures.
Healthy Kids Running Series
September 2020 – May 2022
I devoted up to 30 hours each semester coaching over 70 local children through a weekly race series event. I analyzed race results and improvement by recording race times and reviewing race data to determine awards, creating a more personal experience for the runners. Catering to the runners and their families, I developed race day activities for children ages 2 to 16 by organizing craft and activities. I loved the opportunity to help children fall in love with running like I did, providing encouragement and strategies to leave a last positive impact on their views of healthy habits.
